Jerry, I can't see the pics here at work but I saw them yesterday on my phone. What kind of exhaust manifolds are on that engine? Are those a factory header?

we just swapped the engine out in our 88 c1500 service truck. all 6 studs broke off on exhaust. I ended up going to local autozone and buying new mainfolds with all hardware, and gaskets for $89 each.

That's cheaper than they have for mine, and they only have the pass side. :whymewhyme:

I'm trying to find a set of bolts and studs for my driver's side manifold that bolt to the block. The front 2 stud bolts that the PS bracket bolt to and the other 4 regular bolts. I can't seem to find them as a kit anywhere....

The dealer doesn't carry them? That would be the only place I could think of other than a specialty fastner place that carries a large selection of different studs and bolts. We have a Budget Bolt here, sometimes they have stuff like that. Do you have lengths of each one? I could swing over and check it out for you. I think the threads are 3/8-16.

Those are the factory exhaust manifolds that come standard on a 85-86 C/K truck equipped with the federal heavy duty emissions package and with a 350 engine. I think they are also used on all big blocks of those years.

They are constructed of shaped/welded stainless steel tubing. Also have threaded bosses welded into the individual runners to accept the A.I.R. system's injection pipes.

The ones in the images were painted with Dupli-Color's Flameproof product. It's a ceramic based VHT coating that - with proper prep and application - withstands temps up to 2000 F.

Nice! Those being federal, they're probably not California emissions compliant.

I sure wish I had known about that 2000* paint when I painted my exhaust manifolds. I used 1000* paint and it has already burned off. I knew it would, so it was just for looks until first start-up. But if I had the 2000* paint, they would still be black.

Last night while I was fine tuning the carb and checking timing from a day of driving for the first time, I noticed mine are not the same rusted color they were before. Yes they have the rusted color but since the black has burned off they seem to have more of a gold-reddish tint instead of the bland rusted cast iron look.
