tons of ppl do it so they stay protected underneath.

Mines in good shape cloth in my 88 and I put a cover over it to kep dirt and crap off it and to prevent some wear and tear.

Apperantly it's worked good too because my cover is worn out on the side and coming apart big time.

The po probably did work (oil patch?) that wouldn't agree with cloth upholstery so he covered it up before any damage was done. I wish the woman that owned my burb had done that, she and her daughters were equestrians that wore their riding clothes home. It took me hours and hours to get the saddle oil out of the fabric.

My wife's 09 escape was owned by a equestrian coach at a University and it took me DAYS to get the dirt off the headliner, steering wheel and drivers seat. Bitch was gross.

Nice seat, You going to cover it up again to keep it nice for the next owner ???
A guy working road maintenance give Me an old Dodge four door, do`nt rememer the model, He would drive that car home, with His hands covered in road oil. It took Me a long time, using solvent, to get that sticky black crap off of the steer wheel.
Another outfit I bought was owned by a , so called, cowboy, He chewed snoose, would dig the snoooose out of His mouth with his finger, You should have seen the mess that steer wheel was in. YUUUUCKKkkk, puke choke. Doors/windows was no better.

Good for you - that's the way to live!

One suggestion to keep them looking nice as long as possible. I mean, unless you want to F them up so as to look tough - you don't right?

Get a couple of cans of Scotchgard™ Auto Interior Fabric Protector.

•Repels oil and water
•Blocks stains
•Protects against soiling
•Powerful barrier causes liquids to bead up on the fabric surface for easy cleanup
•Stains release with a gentle wash
•Won't change the look or feel of fabrics

I can vouch for it's effectiveness but read some others:

After a fun afternoon at the lake, It is always the dreaded ride home with a wet dog and tired kids. You cannot expect much help in the cleanup department, So I have found Scotchgard fabric cleaner to do a fine job cleaning up the days mess in short time.

This is the best protector to use after you clean your car's seats and carpet. It repells dirt and stains. Even when my husband dropped coffee on the floor, it came right up with no stains. Great stuff! Should have used this sooner.

I have been using the Scotchgard for every automobile I've owned since 1980. I've never experienced a problem and it has protected my car's interior and kept the cloth seats stain free. I've passed it along to my children, and now they are using it for their cars and have had the same experience that I have had. It is a great product and I would highly recommend it.

I'm an outgoing person and scotchguard has helped my car seats maintain that clean sophisticated, showroom look. I've had friends accidentally spill food and juice on my seats and there's no stain. Actually, some people ask me if I ever let anyone use my car as it is so clean.
Thank you Scotchguard

I use Scotchgard Auto Fabric and Carpet Protector on any new car that I buy. Countless times I have cleaned up spills that happen as a part of everyday life - especially with kids.
An ounce of protection against spills goes a long way here. Do yourself a BIG favor and Scotchgard your car today - you'll thank me for it tomorrow.

Another fabric protection product that gets great reviews is "303® High Tech Fabric Guard™". Their claim is that 303 provides effective protection for much longer per application than 3M's Scotchgard.
