Recover or not?

Door panel trim in grey. On a black panel itself. doing a little mismatch to get the color scheme I want.
I just painted the panels. Should I rewrap the panel around the handle to leather grain?

I think the gray, at least the gray pocket stands out too much.
Are you going to stay with the wider insert or cut it down so that the aluminum piece goes all the way across? If it was the smaller insert two tone would look good. Especially in leather. Are you going to match the seat material?

Of course just my opinion.

opinions are what I NEED lol. I have the shorter one I can wrap. I chose the taller one so I can use the wood grain trim.
I do not have the longer one. Would need to order it (trim)
Here is a seat pic. And the dash I’m SOMEWHAT trying to match. It’s s all GM just very different years.

Other grey will come from the seatbelts, because I can’t really find em in black, and a dash mat. I also figured it would help break up the darkness as well as tie in some of the chrome/ aluminum/ stainless ransom bits.

Right, sounds similar to what I'm doing for my k5. Going with a black and grey theme.
I think I will go with a black dash pad as the original is maroon.
It would look good to match the grain of the seats with door panel inserts. It will tie it together.

For me, I'll use the aluminum color trim. It will pop against the black.

I’ll probably go with a black open pouch. Or attempt to dye this one. Who knows

I swapped to power. They are the window motors from the 91 suburban I pulled some of these trim parts from. The motor in the driver side is giving up the ghost already. It gets stuck at the top. Everything tried to work. I hear it clicking and fighting. But no movement. After about 3 minutes it works again. Happens most often if I roll the window all the way up. To avoid it I leave it cracked.
The 91 suburban door panels are even nicer. I thought about making a plate to cover the hole made for the 4 switch window thing. But I decided they were too nice to paint, right now.

Is there a difference in window motors from the earlier to the later squares? If so how did you make the later motors work in the earlier doors? There seems to be a lot of difference in prices between the two?

The earlier ones are larger. But they pretty much all swap over from 76+
Some people like to use the larger older motors. More torque is what I have heard. But they are swappable.
