So I'm lost, hopefully someone can help me.

Rig in question: 1989 chevy suburban v1500

Issue: the rest window gears came unwound.

So the tailgate I bought had the regulator but it had came unwound.... previous owner had tried to fix but took motor off without holding arms in place so they came unwound..... it's there a way to reset the gears so the alignment is correct?

I've searched and searched but can't find anything.... hopefully I explained this enough, if not please ask any questions.... thank you in advance

As long as you have it aligned (both rollers at same height) when you engage the teeth, it will be fine. Iirc, you can't just count the teeth because when aligned, there will be an uneven number on each side.
