Quadrajet Linkage

So I found out the carb I have on my truck right now doesn't have the part to allow the cable for my th350 to be hooked up. I was thinking...

1) Would it be ok to drill above where it normally goes in?
2) Does the th350 cable really care about the angle its used at?

Red = Missing
Blue = Drill Out

I don't want to have to swap shafts if I don't have to lol.

Just bolt a universal linkage stud into the hole. You probably have the cable that just slides over a stud, correct? Or is it a newer style that snaps over a stud that looks like the head of a nail? Either type is available, and a lot of auto parts stores carry them in the "performance" isle.

I'm thinking your confused about something lol. My current arm looks like this..

In the picture I provided the top stud is for the throttle linkage and the lowest hole is for the throttle return springs. I need one more hole for the detent cable which has the end like this.. http://www.ss396.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/S530.jpg

Ah, yep I misunderstood. I thought the first pic WAS your throttle linkage.

I think it would be best to change the linkage or at least weld a piece of steel back on there so you can hook the cable up in the correct spot. If you drilled a hole in what you still have left, it would hardly have any pull on the cable.
