For about ten years now I have had a 203 transfer case rebuild kit setting on the shelf awaiting for Me to get some time to instill it into the T-case.
At the same time of ordering the rebuld kit for the T-Case I also ordered in a Super Winch T-Case part time kit.
I am curious if anyone has ever installed a part time kit into their full time T-case and how it held up afterwards.I know that soon,I might get a spare hour, maby two,and get this deed accomplished.:grd::shakehead::badidea:

My '77 has a part time kit installed, it seems to work fine other than the usual PITA shifter. I've had the truck for like 5 years now, and the previous owner had bought it about 5 years before that, so it's got at least 10 years on it and it still works. Although, it's just sat the last couple years.

Yeah, the K5 does. The '79 K30 I'm not sure about, the front shaft has been removed since I got it home and I never looked into it since I have a th400/np205 to go into it.

Yeah, I had to pull the front shaft because the pinion bearing is seized due to me trying to drive it home without any lube in the front. I can't turn the pinion flange even with a long prybar, but the motor can turn it, lol. I keep forgetting I need to fix that front axle.

Lol, I don't need 4x4 really, so that's why I've never got to it. It's too big to go wheeling, and it's too nice to drive on the salty winter roads. I'll probably get it out this weekend, for the first time since fall.

OK,Thank You for the replies.
Si it does seem that the Suyper Winch kit will be all fight,I dont drive this 79 much,I just want it ready to go when I need it.There is a Tommy Lift on bastardized onto the back end and that old lift has done a lot of work for Me.
I think there could possibly be some bent forks in the 203 because if the way it shifts. It was on a fencing crew of youg peoples that did`nt know a thing about four wheel drive systems,I think when they wanted to go from 4 lock or 4 low, that instead of backing up to take any binding offof the gears and shafts that they just kicked it to what ever they wanted to put it in.ouch
I guess I will "TRY" to do a write up with pics as I go along,I am no good at organizing these types of write ups so it might take a mod to get it all into order.

My truck came with the part-time kit in it. And i have no shifting issues. When i put it in gear, it imedietly goes in. and When i pull it into 2wd again, it imediatly releases. Its the hubs that tend to stick. Thats something else youll need to invest in. I recament Warn or Milemarker.

Back in the day my dad put a part time kit on the truck. He said he only ran it for a couple of years, then switched back to full time. My dad does stuff for a reason so I trust his decision. What led to that decision, I honestly can't say.

Sounds like Yours is working well,I have a set of Warn hubs.I installed those to keep from tearing the truck to pieces as them front U-joints was bad and turning on pavement/asphalt felt like it was doing some damage. The T-case has issues,I dont know what position it is in,I think it might be stuck in four lock.

It would be interesting to know what His reasoning was.

.......Yea, runing the tcase locked on the road can cause problems.....
If its not a DD i say pull it apart and put up pics.
All the way forward is low lock.
Ive never had a use for the low side, i always stay on the highside.

Yeah,it was in four weel drive high range but I`m not sure if it was four hi lock,so I put hubs on so I could at least keep from binding the components.
I got the driving shafts removed, drained the case and am now getting ready to unbolt it from the adapter.
