From beautiful lovely downtown Long Island New York.

Been lurking for a bit, and this looks like a great community to share stories, ask questions and help out where I can. I'm looking forward to the conversation.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I'm trying to chip in where I can.

Lots of stuff to come. Even more when I can get the photos out of my dead laptop.

Welcome to GMSB !!! I take it you're saying the original owner to your truck and bought it brand new??? My C20 is the same color and Silverado, but it sure don't look to be that nice of paint and I wasn't the original owner. I bought it from the Original Owners daughter and and Son in Law though after it was passed down to them.

Thanks.

Yes, the pickup truck was brand new, custom ordered from the factory. It's owned by the family business, which I now have the (mis)fortune to own, so it still has the same name on the title. I've been driving and wrenching on it since day one. But if it makes you feel any better, the paint isn't original and it doesn't look quite as good anymore. The last few years and hurricane Sandy have been rough on the old girl.

The '86 suburban was an engine looking for a home. When the first engine in the pickup developed a porus block we replaced it and I found a new block, rebuilt it with the first engine's internals, turbocharged it, found a Suburban with a clapped out 350 and did a diesel repower. A long story with a sad ending for another time.

Big bummer with the motors. Maybe a BBC is in your future?

I probably should mention that I own a diesel fuel injection shop and I'm kind of addicted to diesels, even the mediocre 6.2L. As a result I only burn about five gallons of gasoline a year and that's just because there are no diesel lawnmowers, weed whackers, snow blowers or chainsaws.

While I appreciate the sympathy there will be no Big Blocks, or small blocks for that matter.
