Agree with a lot that has been said. But if you don't support them, they may not be there when that water pump goes out at 5pm on a sunday afternoon 1,000 miles away from home.
I appreciate this and think the same way for mom and pop stores only though. I'm not in a position to support a giant corporation charging exorbitant prices for a what if scenario. I already do that, I think the bastards call it insurance.

$26 plus free one-day shipping and free returns at Amazon. Google it.

I just bought some USA-made Gates radiator hoses at Amazon. A few bucks more than Rock Auto, but free shipping and free returns. My NAPA and A/Z store prices? Don't even ask.

This has been what I have gone to as well. I stopped going to rockauto for a lot of things because they have bonkers return policies and the shipping is expensive and can take forever. If I can find it on amazon, that's what I'll do. Usually AC Delco parts or Gates parts direct from the GM store on amazon. I actually just replaced all 4 oxygen sensors on my 2011 Suburban and ordered a bunch of small stuff from the GM store for the L9H 6.2L LS3 that I'm rebuilding. Genuine GM parts at less than the knockoff parts from Oreilly or AZ.

About 10 years ago I bought a PCM from them for about $400 that was defective. Even though UPS showed it delivered to them, Rock said they never received it and therefore would not return my money. Never bought a thing from them since.

If I was still running professionally in a shop there's no way I could run if Rock Auto was the only option out there. Which might be by design....
For sure, because you need parts now in a shop scenario. Rock Auto only really makes sense for the guy doing his own work unless the guy has customers that don't care about timelines of getting their ride back.

Aha ! A SW boy. I am in Alief .

But ...

When I needed my GM blank keys from Classic Industries cut about the only people that would do It was Court's Hardware off of 90.

:)
Yup, they're my go-to place for keys. They've been in the same family for over 100 years. In this location since the early 60s. They have a state historical marker in the parking lot.
My dad went to Missouri City High School and was in the first class from Dulles High School in 1962. I went to school in Houston, but they'd opened the Stafford schools by the time my brother came along.

My only place local to me where I can get keys for my older rigs is The Lock Doctor. The small town hardware stores have all closed and Ace, Lowes, HD,..... can't even find anything older than 2003 :(

That's why I always choose my own parts online (if I need them immediately and can't order from RA) and walk in with the part number ready. That way, if there's a screw up it's on me and I don't feel the need to get heated at the "parts guy" who may or may not even know a thing about cars. Just another warm body many times.

That is disappointing. I did have a better return through RA. Bought a rebuilt hydro-boost, it was assembled wrong. Sent them these pictures and you can see how the actuator rod is about 3/4" in too far. This would put the brake pedal inches off the truck floor. They emailed me the return label.

I wrote Rock Auto off a long time ago, burned on more than 1 purchase and had an unbelievable disaster trying to warranty a legitimate warranty issue fuel pump. Bought my new pump from Summit did a charge back on the credit card, problem solved. I now know why some of us have good luck with them and some have bad. They don't own the parts they don't own the warehouses, they are the middle man catalogging and selling other people's overstock, obsolete, shop buy out or other, products. So if the supplier is fraudulent Rock Auto never even saw that part. It is luck of the draw.
