Uh Ohh. Nothing getting done for awhile. I love my dogs like I love my kids, but I adopted them when they were about 1.5 - 2 years old. I just don't do well with Puppy stages even as cute as they are. No whining and crying, scratching at doors, chewing up everything in sight etc. No Can Do for me. Besides, plenty of unwanted dogs needing homes. Boxers are great dogs. My female Gurr Dog is a Boxer. My male Harley Dawg is a Husky.

Hi any update on this?

I've changing from NP833 2wd to NP833 4wd, but don't have the different shifter. Any success making a mounting plate?

Oh that's my gold NP833 + 205 case earlier in the pics :)

Yes, I recognize your name @zetan. Welcome aboard buddy. Glad to have you here. You're the guy from P4x4 with the 3/4 van being converter to 4x4 IIRC. I thought of you when I seen the Ass Monkey episode where they took a square and converted a van to 4x4.

Just so you know, we're not pricks here like P4x4 guys can be. We're pretty loose around here, have very few rules and ALMOST anything goes, but the biggest thing and the quickest thing that will get anyone banned here is being a bully ass *****. Other than spammers, only been 2 people temporarily banned and it was for continual pissing matches, we worked through it and they're both members here, they just don't visit near as often. Other main rules to note, No nudity and no blood and guts. That's about it, so you may see some tasteless ******** from time to time and and some foul lingo here and there. Point is, don't be afraid to ask a question and get treated as if you're stupid or didn't find your answer in search. We've got some dupe threads here and usually the mods will handle merging those or consolidating threads if need be. We do get off topic here and there too. But, we do try to keep the under construction build threads on topic as much as possible as well as the tech "How To" write up threads.

So now to answer your question. So you have 2 different A833's? A 2wd and a 4wd? So you're trying to convert the 2wd drive shifter to work on the 4wd tailshaft?

I think I asked over there if you got that worked with the NP205 and IIRC, you said you punted that project. So is that the case, or did you ever get the NP205 to properly mount to the 4x4 NP A833. From the best I could tell, you'd just have to put notch in the round transfer case adapter secton. Figured someone could use a gasket for a pattern and grind that out pretty easy. I'd love to use my A833 with an NP205 with fixed yoke and twin stick Tcase shifter.

Hi,
Yes I have two different Np833s, both cast iron, one 2wd 27 spline and the other 4wd 32 spline.

I sold the NP205 and went drivers side drop (to match my dana 44 axle from a van). I did not notch the housing. I have a NP241 IFS tcase now 32 spline input.

The van originally had a 833 2wd. I was hoping to use a NV4500 4wd in the conversion, but the tail housing hits the van body trans crossmember and next will hit the floor before it's level. Sure I could cut out a huge hump like the "cummins in a van" guy did, but I'd rather not.

So I also have a 833 4wd case sitting around, but no shifter assembly.
The IBR is broke on the 4wd case, so I was going to swap it over from my other one (or find one at a junk yard but these are rare).

I think the np833 4wd will fit the van better (will find out this weekend).

I wanted to move the 2wd shifter to the 4wd case. Did anyone make an adapter plate?

In case you want to catch up on my project, here are the photos

The only nudity I'll be posting here is engine porn and bloody knuckles :)

I mostly post on dieselplace in the 6.2L forum, but 833 guys are hard to come by, so I'm here!

Yep, that's the only porn we do here. Is Truck Porn, and it's a requirement. We're Pic ****** without doubt. Bloody Knuckles isn't considered blood and guts, and is also expected. Though guys around here usually have duct tape around their boo boos by the time they make it into the pics. :happy175:

We do have guys into other vehicles too and build or under construction threads for those are allowed too in the 'Other Vehicles' section. I'm sure there will be several interested in this Van Conversion also if and when you do find time and want to fire up a thread about it.

Not sure where it is now, there was a conversation about a GM 4 wheel drive Van, I forget now what it was called. V drive maybe? I bet you'd probably know what it is. The Van where it had 3 driveshafts. 1 to the rear and 2 in the front, one going to each drive wheel.

As of yet, I'm not sure anyone got that bracket made. I believe @Ferdwerd was our chance and seeing that done. I think it's this thread there was a pic of both brackets compared side by side. IIRC, it looked to be flat and shouldn't be that hard to make for someone with a plasma cutter. What would be really cool, is it someone who had that bracket, could trace it on a paper sack including the mounting holes, cut it out and make us a pattern or actually a few patterns. Then it can folded up into an envelope and mailed off to whoever wanted to attempt making their own.

BTW, we've got good guys here and they will do things like that given a bit of time to get it done. Just that the forum slows down a bit this time of year. Everyone is busy with spring time activities, schools being out and kid functions. Some of our heavy hitters are also working out of town or long hours right now. It may not be today or overnight, but I'm sure someone will come through.

VEMCO V-Drive yeah I saw one in person on a late 70s van. Diffs on each front wheel.
Just like this. I'm not doing that!

http://www.curbsideclassic.com/blog/cc-outtake-1980-dana-v-drive-4wd-gmc-school-van-a-rarity-indeed/

I have a plasma cutter so I'll make something and report back :)

:happy175: Yes, I'm aware you're not doing it. Still very cool though and we had some guys interested in it. I'm sure we'd have several interested in a Van conversion too. I've looked at your pics. You do obviously have some fab skills.

I don't care for the show all that much, but since it's on and better than watching some of the other **** on TV like Bachlorette, American Idol, I do watch/listen to Fast and Loud with the Ass Monkey's just to see what they're up to and how far off the real prices will be on the show this episode and how much money they'll lose. Though I was interested in the Van conversion they did about 3 weeks ago, where they robbed all the powertrain from a 3/4 ton squarebody. Nothing cool like an A833.

Onto the Important Stuff:

Yes, by all means if you do come up with something let us know.

What I do have here is my 4x4 shifter, but I don't have the 2wd shifter. Would any pics do you any good if I was to take the 4x4 shifter off the trans, then take the shifter assembly off the mounting bracket? I wonder if there would be a way I could trace the bracket onto paper, scan it and you actually receive it in actual size to where you could print it. Then you do the same with your 2wd drive bracket, then you'd have both pieces as a pattern to play with and see if you can make your own pattern out of the pieces.

Gotta admit though, the thought of a low slung 4x4 square would be pretty cool.

You're obviously referring to the V drive Van. That link that zetan posted has the same pic we seen on here before and brought up the V drive discussion. The one with the Van on it's side showing the 3 driveshafts. I don't think I care for that set up at all either. If I had it, it's only due to the fact it's rare as hell. Probably even moreso than the A833 in Squarebody trucks. But as zetan pointed out, his van came with the 2wd A833. I knew they were available in vans too, as well as Step Vans even.

I really like zetan's project though. A true straight axle 4x4 Van is cool all on it's own. Then he's going to have it with the A833 and also 6.2L Diesel making it a very cool rig. No extreme powerhouse by any stretch, but should be a very fun vehicle and affordable to drive with the very rare powertrain combo. Everything about it just says cool project to me. :waytogo:

Sooo back to A833 shifters. Let us know if some pics or tracing of some brackets will help @zetan. If you want I'll pull my shifter off, then the bracket off and trace it, and mail it to you. With that, your 2wd bracket, plasma cutter and your fab skills, I bet you'd be able to get the bracket made. Then you can trace what you made for a mailable pattern.
