Clean the throttle body really well with carb cleaner and a rag. Hold the blade open and wipe out behind it and also clean off the edges of the blade. Clean it out as good as you can. If it has the screen on the front of the TB, you will need to remove it. Also remove the mass airflow sensor and clean it out with MAF sensor cleaner... do not use carb cleaner on it. Put it back together and see how it acts the next couple days. You may find that all is well again.

The problem your dealing with is the whole reason I decided to change jobs. My suggestion is to buy a fuel pressure gauge and drive it around until you can replicate the problem.

If the fuel pressure checks out it could be a number of electronic problems associated with heat. I suggest you drop it off at a garage and let them plug in a scanner and drive it around.

It's very common for these cars to have the exact problem described, it's VERY often a dirty TB and/or MAF sensor. A fuel pump can sometimes cause an acceleration issue, but more often they just quit pumping altogether.

Oh yeah, as for the hard start issue. If you give it just a bit of throttle, it may start every time.

...and I'm almost certain the TB has never been cleaned on this car. As far as acceleration, that doesn't seem to be affected much at this point as it seems to pretty much right on par with how it's always been since I've had it.

I love it when parts just break without warning therefore leaving you stranded so I sure hope that's the case with the fuel pump.... </end sarcasm>

I plan on hopefully getting that cleaned up tonight and we'll see how it performs over the weekend. If it doesn't solve it I may have to just take another good suggestion by Irishman and just drop it off at the garage and have them take a look. We'll be taking this car on a 3000 mile round trip road trip in the spring and would like to get these kinks worked out before then :)

You're right, this does work most of the time but I hate having to do this in order to get it to stay started. I feel like I'm just putting a band aid over the problem that is there. I've done this in the past mainly has a way of taking out my frustration on the car!! :) It seems to work great! :)

At least it would be easy to spot the problem. Searching all those lines of code for a single character misplaced gets so frusterating..... but at the same time when it FINALLY runs its AWESOME!

I forgot the compiler tells you what lines caused the crash, thats very cool.

I finally got the throttle body cleaner today (already had some MAF cleaner) so I'm going to clean up both the TB and MAF really well tonight and see how it responds over the next few days. Hopefully this fixes the issue. It definitely can't hurt anything considering it's probably never been done! :)
