I has hoping it isn't the carb
But seeing that it ran before it has to be
I'll tear it apart again I guess
I just hope the gasket is still good on it

Just be real slow when you take it off making sure the gasket doesn't stick to the surfaces. if you get a chance the gaskets are fairly cheap.

With high idle and issues mentioned, sounds like you have air coming in somewhere it shouldn't be. Double check all you vacuum hoses and make sure none of them cracked when you swapped everything around. Check all connections on intake around carb and plug wires. Then go in the carb if necessary.
Hope you find it!

Booster line is cracked pretty bad at carb
Could that be it?
Right vacuum port hose is good
Other side is plugged
Air filter needs a spacer to clear the throttle linkage but that shouldn't matter now if it hasn't before should it?
Plug wires seem good
I did get it to idle at about 700 for a short time and it was a rough idle like it was missing

well I'll replace it tomorrow
Hopefully the left over fuel line fits
Other than that there's nothing else I can see wrong on the outside

I would start with the transmission and rear end so that they can actually hold some power.

TooK carb apart, everything looks good, gasket didn't get hot enough to get brittle, put it back on truck, fired up and died, adjusted mixture screws out and it idled about 1500, dropped idle to 1000 with idle screw, now it idles in gear and drives (sorta) it's iffy on stops, gotta keep foot on gas a little but it drives, now the issue is its a slow response, sluggish acceleration, and pcv valve won't stay in, (just got a new one)
Bought a vacuum gauge after an hour and a half running around town trying to find it, now what should the pressure be at carb/dizzy/ and I've also got a tee to put between them and one for the pcv valve
I've never messed with a vacuum gauge before so a step by step would be great

the vacuum should read 15+ while in gear and near 20 while in park.the pcv is a controlled leak and should not be used to check vacuum readings. use the port behind the carb or one on the carb. those will provide accurate readings.

20 at carb
Still dies in gear
I've checked and rechecked timing, plugs, wires, dizzy, and fuel pump the only thing it could be now is carb, its sitting in the road now do it'll be there until @Irishman999 sends me the Roch carb
