Checked for Kev, the main 12v in, the red wire is showing full battery voltage, well the standing at 12.41 the 12v fused in, #5 orange wire shows 11.31, so a slight fault? But power is getting to the switch, I checked for continuity on the other switches I swapped with, and they did feed power. Fuses all checked.. Tail lamp fuse was blown the night we found out the tail lights went out, again. Was replaced. But dash and all running lights are still inoperable.

The orange wire for the dome light and footwell light has constant 12 volt power. The lights come on when the white wire is grounded by the door switch or turning the headlight switch.

The orange and white wires run from the kick panel under the metal door sill plate to get to the cab corner and dome light, and they take a lot of beating there from dirt and water. I would pull up carpet near the kick panel, and pull off the sill plate and check for missing insulation and wire breaks.

Unhook the positive wire that is on the cig lighter and see if that helps. That's what was wrong with my wife's Trans Am.

Put a jumper across the fuse terminals and turn the lights on. The smoke will tell you where the issue is. Repair or replace. If that don't work...LS swap.

Here's the latest weirdness ............I have NO power to the instrument lights fuse.
Not sure if the power source is within the fuse block, or a wire running to the block from the firewall side.

I pulled the tail light fuse, have power to one side, and put multimeter with the beeper to the other fuse terminal, I get a beep indicating a short in the circuit, but it doesn't blow the fuse and the tail lights still don't work.

I am thinking of hitting a couple wrecking yards and get a complete wiring harness from a truck IF it isn't butchered by a previous owner or fried in spots.

Instrument light power comes from the headlight switch. I would bet you have a bad switch

I do remember finding this gremlin, to this day never have been able to explain how that wire ended up soldered to the bulb's terminals as the bulb had NEVER been removed since it was installed brand new.

It's probably for the better that my health is failing and it's looking like I may end up in a home or facility in Prescott very soon.

Less stress, maybe. I don't know. I hate to hear that, but I know you've been struggling with different issues, and living where you have to haul in supplies makes it harder.
