Did it win? Lol

pretty sure it did but was drivers 3rd pass ever. It started as built to be quick and reliable so he could drive it to work if he wanted, then the 410s, 4k stall and 454 with a huge cam and edelbrock heads went in. Full interior, functional AC and gets better mileage than you would think.

How many electrical prongs on the back of the low beam???

Three. That makes sense since there’s two on the high beam. I’ve never watched someone else switch a sealed beam so I’ve never seen the handoff to the other filament in person. I just assumed that they always remained static while the lights were on. That’s what assuming gets me, though.

Somehow, though knowing better, I was thinking it was the other way.

That’s some Caprice porn right there! I like those rallies. I will say they look slicker with the base model or just the Classic since there’s no landau top, but that looks great. I imagine I’ll get tired of the spokes going clink clink on bumpy roads sooner rather than later.

Does yours have the retaining bolt in the middle of the cover? My folks had an 80 Caprice Classic new and at about 20k miles the covers started "walking " and mad a weird noise. Figured out it may have been the wheel itself flexing because of everything being made lighter for gas mileage considerations.

The one that’s really bad has a damaged retainer cup that the center bolt bolts to do it doesn’t seat perfectly on the wheel. I have to get a “new” one, but I’ve been hesitant to get one from eBay. I think I’ll check today, though.

Kinda is. For a little brass cup, people sure want a lot of money for them. That is when they’re actually available online.

That doesn’t sound bad. If I had a wagon, that’d be perfect. The sedan’s good with cargo, but the wagon would be just right for what I do and need. You should get it going!

Ole reliable being reliable as always. I’ve had a few lightbulbs go off in my head of mods that I’ve started to do/I’d like to do.

1. Get my damn aux. cluster built and installed:

I’m not gonna replicate the 9C1 location because I don’t want to mutiliate the dash and have to move things around which means mutiliating the dash even more. I need to tap into my dash lighting circuit, and I’d like to have easy access to my instrument harness to tap into the idiot light wires or to the firewall for organic wiring.

I’m thinking I can use the ash tray as a mount (already made a template for the enclosure pieces), use the ashtray light wiring for my two instrument bulbs, and still have use of the ashtray for storage. It would have to have holes drilled in it for wires to pass through and flush screws for the mounting, but an ash tray is smaller and vastly more replaceable than a dash panel.

My only issues are will the ashtray want to partially slide out after becoming front-heavy, and what is the most reasonable material. I like ABS plastic, but it’s to thin for screws to go in so is wood the best alternative... I could always mount in the actual hole, but I like the idea of having part of the work done for me.

2. Sequential turn signals/brake lights:

The mod speaks for itself. I’m assuming the turn signal motor that old Mercs had was kind of like a breaker point thingy that would be difficult to replicate and probably too primitive to be reliable. The easiest way would probably to tee into the rear harness as it passes through the trunk into the rear cap. I’d be open to building my own, but I don’t really know where to start.

3. I want a spotlight:

I think they look pretty badass. Need I say more?

4. Dog Dish caps (maybe)

Overall, I think it’ll transition to something resembling a 9C1, but I’m hesitant on the wheels. I like the spokes, and I may end up sticking with them for the long haul. We’ll see.
