compass temp mirror
auto down windows
remote start

what are your thoughts and must haves

I don't mean cruise control or ac type stuff I am looking for stuff our trucks never came with.

I don't need heated seats down here but....

Compass/temp/HomeLink mirror! Check
Auto-down windows. check
tilt/telescopic steering. next.
automatic door locks (doors lock at 9-10MPH). next
remote keyless entry. next
heated/auto-dimming side mirrors. gathering parts
CD with AUX input for iPod/phone (factory). check
automatic headlights. gathering parts

Not because I'm a lazy bastard, but because I can put them all in the truck using GM parts. :D

I had heated mirrors on my '81, not hooked up but they were power, heated and auto-dim. I used 1998-00 Escalade/Denali,Suburban,Yukon,Tahoe glass in the factory square power mirror housing.

Auto-headlights should be pretty easy and basically the same as my GMT400 (I don't plan to install a newer dash in mine) so I will do a write-up when I can.

I was thinking about this today and auto headlights was the main thing that kept popping into my mind. my 07 crew cab has them and I have kinda got use to them and forget to turn on my light when I drive my older stuff.

I don't like the power mirrors for the square the just don't look right. lmc has the heated chrome mirrors I was thinking about getting them.

Probably not feasible on a square but my dd has push button start and doors that unlock/lock by touching the door handle. I don't even have to take my keys out of my pocket to get the remote. I thought it was a gimmick but wouldn't want to be without it. So easy with heavy winter coat and gloves. I wish my home door locks had it. I'd never have to take my keys out of my pocket.

These are on my wish list for Silvy:

Keyless Entry
Remote Start
Heated/Auto Dim Side Mirrors (I never knew there were auto dim side mirrors!)
Stand Up Wiper Arms
Compass/Temp Mirror
Heads Up Display

I would like fuel injection for my square and then remote start for the winter.

I mostly want heated mirrors and a rear window defroster. Not sure they even make the last one.

It could possibly be done though. Would just take a little tedious work.

I've thought about loading my Suburban with modern options, but the rest of the trucks are just fine as being basic. Cloth seats, carpet, and insulation are all nice, but again, I certainly can do without. I do really like keyless entry though. I'd be happy if everything had it.
