Hi everyone,
I'm Schon. New to the forum. Purchased a '73 GMC about 6 months ago and it is time to start working on her. Her name is Breanne, and she has a lot of rust. Currently shopping for a cab swap (cancer in roof). Glad to be here and ready to pick your brains.

Found an '85 3/4 ton cab nearby. If I use it, I'll have to use the fenders and hood as well, correct?

Welcome. FYI California vehicles are actually registered by the frame, not body. I would just take good pictures if there is any issues in the future. You don't want to screw up your smog exempt status.

You do know they are not everyday rivets, right. Also VIN numbers are in different locations and not the same plate as in a 73..
I did not know about the placement of the VIN. I'll have to look more into this.

I did a cab swap 3 years ago for my square build. Here in Az. They dont pay particular attention to the details like thay may in California during inspection.

Found a stepside bed yesterday for a good price... hmm... Current fleetside has fuel door on wrong side of the truck, so I refuel through a hole in the bed currently. :banghead:

If you go that route, make sure you get the fuel filler with it if you can. They are hard to find, and nobody makes them any more.
