Good Morning!
I'm new to the forum, and would like to introduce my fellow members to Francine!
She is a 79 GMC 3/4 ton ... that my boys built for me (behind my back).
Bed/Box is from a 1970 C20, 355cid engine, SM465 trans ... not sure of the transfer case or differentials yet (gears are 4:10's or 4:11's).
They replaced rockers, cab corners, body mounts, floor pans, pulled the major dents, and applied paint and bedliner. I think they started last spring and worked on it through the summer (while enlisting the help of several of their friends), POR15'd the frame and diff's.
The engine used to belong to my best friend from jr high, set me up on a blind date (who I have been maried to for 30 years), was the best man at my wedding, godfather to my daughter ... and, sadly passed away last February. Currently has 150 (+/-) miles on the rebuild.
They showed up on the September 24th and handed me keys and title. I consider the truck perfect. The dents don't bother me, truck will be used for hauling a full gravity box once a year, deer and pheasant hunting ... and the occaisional joyride. With the imperfections in the body, the truck screams "get out of the way". My oldest told me the whole truck is stiched together like Frankenstein ... hence the name of Francine.
And I was wondering why they weren't making any progress on their own projects.
And now, I have projects for myself ... seat swap (with shoulder belts!) ... add the dual tank back ... Spare tire carrier (newish dual exhaust is set to close to be able to mount the spare under the bed) ... maybe a re-wire kit from painless performance ... maybe an aftermarket gauge cluster ...
