I’m new to this forum and found this truck in Ky; had a lot more rust than I thought but was going to fix up over time. Has factory 305; never lifted, interior is decent. Needs a lot of love and money! Motor runs ok; but needs a carb. I bought one from AutoZone; purchased a 6 inch RC lift for it; and then blew a disc out! Project got pushed out a year. I hear do a LS swap; drop a good 350 in it; I don’t know what to do, so looking for feedback. 47555 on odometer; so I’m thinking it’s only rolled over once.

Nice looking truck to start with. First basic question is what do you want the truck to do? Daily driver or show truck to impress all the sweet young things? Mud or hunting truck? Toy for your use, or something to work on with your son-daughter/grandson-daughter/nephew-niece? Lots of very knowledgeable folks here, but remember what opinions are like.

Kevin, welcome, I don't know your skill set,so giving you advice is kinda tough. Average guy the easiest thing is bolt in a 350 with bolt ons, headers,,carb, manifold. Easy cheap and if you blow it up,it can be fixed in a day. If you buy a crate 350 you may even have a warranty. May not have the most power or MPG potential, but dirt simple and IMHO dirt cheap.

You should be able to get 5 000 out of it , It's too far away for Me. That truck would bring round 7000 here in rust bucket Pa.

It looks like a great father/son project. I just recently did one with my son.

I’d recommend dropping in a carbureted 350 or going with a 350/355 crate engine.

Just something to work on with my 17 year old son; not a daily driver; but want to make it nice and dependable, not a show truck
