These two are more techniques or tips I guess.

Thank you.

It is an older Clifford 4 barrel manifold, Aussie cast Dutra Dual split manifolds, Quick fuel 450 carburetor, JP performance true double roller timing chain, Oregon Cam Grinders custom ground cam, .100 machined off the cylinder head for a little compression, 5 angle valve job. The valve cover is a low production cast piece from Argentina. Later electronic distributor triggering an HEI module and vortec coil.

Very impressive! Thanks for sharing. I got a special place in my heart for these motors. Had several.

Got the other upgrades done on my 20 ton press. Welded a strap on each side of the press plates deck to hold the new press plates from sliding off. Weld on tabs to hold the eccentric bearings to the jack pad. There is no play in it now... need to do some clean up, and paint. Pretty happy with how it turned out.

Made a rolling stand for my bead roller I got for my birthday. Gave it a little test run. Have never used one, think I'm going to have some fun with it.

Socket Stringers. This morning I had an idea, this is the rough draft. Socket stringers you can throw in a backpack and when you get to the junkyard all your sockets are in one place and in order instead of knocked off Socket rails and laying in the bottom. Will make color coded for metric vs. Standard and finish the ends better this was the prototype. I have decided a backpack will be a cool pik n pull toolbox. So putting one together out of left over junk tools,so I can walk out carrying tools on my back, parts in my arms or hands or prowl the yard without rolling a wheel barrow or carrying a bucket or toolbox in my hand the whole time. Sorry forgot pics earlier.

I am using a split tube as a means of clamping instead of a pin to index.

Got things welded. I need to still make the base plate for the "receiver" tube to mount to the bench.

Once in a while, or a lot, you need soft jawed clamps to hold work. I have a few Jorgensen clamps of varying sizes that, when I need them, are worth their weight in gold. Especially when cutting things on the metal or one of the two wood band saws.

Something sparked the thought I needed more. Ones I would feel less bad about being nicked by a blade. I thought of variations of more Jorgensen types, then I came up with these handy critters. Anyone with a drill and a jig or bandsaw could make them.

I posted a detailed INSTRUCTABLE on how to make them here: https://www.instructables.com/SMALL-PARTS-HOLDING-CLAMP/

Easier hillbilly hones. I use a long cotter key I open it just enough to push in the emry paper, then pinch it shut clamp the drill chuck down to hold the cloth clamped in the cotter pin.

In a related rabbit trail: My shop is 1,800 square feet. A fair size. Still, wall space is a much coveted thing, for storing and displaying often used tools and equipment (e.g., drills, hand held saws and sanders).

Perhaps the most used tools in my shop are those tied to layout work. Everything from calipers, rulers, yard stick, digital measurers or laser levels and such to angle gauges, templates and compasses.

These take up a LOT of room. To give myself more wall space, I resorted to magic - adding more wall space without actually adding walls.

To get there, I took a clue from stores like K-Mart, that used to have swinging racks to display posters, without taking up entire walls.

I used 3/8" 2'x4' crap ply used to ship things and sandwiched 2x2's, allowing me to run screws in, to mount items, or nails to hang them.

I just used some of the angle iron you can buy at big box stores as the upper and lower mounts for the panels.

The panels had a permanent dowel on the bottom and a removable one on top, allowing me to drop the bottom dowel into a hole, position the top and push the dowel in, giving me 1-1/2" thick panels about 2x4' in size, giving me about 64 more square feet in a small area. And, I am still able to use the space between panels to store items.
