LS9?

The basic 350 engines in all of our trucks is the LS9. Has been that way on most SPIDs from the 1960's through the 80's. But now when you google LS9 it goes directly to Chevy's new 6.2 liter turbocharged V-8. What the hell? Did they run out of alpha numeric combinations and have to start recycling old ones? What dope at GM decided it was a good idea to confuse things like this?
LS9 is for trucks, not Corvettes. There are a million square bodies out there. They can't deny us. We had it first. It's ours. We own it!
One of the truck parts suppliers should design a correct looking LS9 emblem for the square body era and we should all install them on our 350 V-8 trucks. Ugh!

They have been recycling them for decades now. LS1, LS2, LS4, LS6, LS7 were all big blocks in the early 70's. LS6 and LS7 were available as crate engines well into the 80's, iirc. Then beginning in '97, different variations of the "LS" motor started using all those old RPO's from the 70's.

When you think about it, the 454 big block was the original "LS" motor

So I was just reading a Hot Rod mag from '90, the LS6 and LS7 were still available at that point... for a whopping 2800 bucks, lol. Sure would be nice if that's what a new crate 454 still cost.

Also, don't forget the LT-1 that was in the 70-72 Z28s and corvettes, then the LT1 (no dash) that was used in the later C4 'vettes and pre-facelift 4th gen F bodies, and then the new LT1 they just started making a few years ago to replace the LS engines. GM re-uses everything like that

@bucket , Andy, just an FYI, all those Hot Rod Magazines I had, just recently sold! Guy saw an old ad on CL, called and made me an offer I couldn't refuse! Came to my house, picked them up, paid me and said he was headed home and would start reading them that night. Said they would be better than anything on TV.......he's right!!! There were 338 issues, all HRM starting in 1961 thru 1999. Had some full years some part years and a few singles, all in good condition. Thinking they went to a good home!

Good idea, have a stack Of Car Craft mags from the 60's back when Criag Breedlove was on the salt flats and Don Garlitz was in the front engine Swamp Rat. You could buy a M1 Garrand in the mail, a live monkey, VW Beetle fiberglass sand buggy body and flat fender Jeep for $100.
