Hello i have a 78 gmc c15 that im am building a 496 for. I am wanting long tube headers with 2" tubes that won't hang below the frame. I heard the chevelle headers work but haven't reached out for help until now. I am not looking to spend $1500 and would like to stay around the 6-900 range.

I have a set that I purchased long ago that I think will fit. I'll be using them in my Suburban. They are Hooker brand. #2457 maybe? I'm not home right now. But they are 2" primary and 3.5" collectors.

Hit the magnifying glass upper right. That's our search engine. Type Big Block Headers( I just did it) lots of reading material about big block headers.

Look for mid 70s Chevell, Nova, Monte Carlo, Malibu, Caprice, Impala, or Camaro These are all the same design and should sit higher up in the frame and clear the ends of the lower control arms, however they will point dead into the stock cross member so that will also need to be swapped for an aftermarket one with the double humps.

Better yet here's the first thing I found.

Gotta be careful tossing in the applications like Camaro and Impala. Different manufacturers have different fitments for different years of those cars and it also changes with small block and big block.

As far as big blocks go, I've found '68-'72 Nova and Chevelle through '72 to always be on the same application list. But of course, since Jegs discontinued the master catalog 20 years ago, I haven't really been able to keep track of that stuff.

I've got two trucks that literally have headers from a Nova. As in, they were taken from a Nova and I installed them on my truck. So that application definitely fits. The Hooker part# I posted above was originally purchased for my '70 Impala and from what I remember, '68-'72 Nova was also on the application list. I'm home tonight, I should probably go verify the part#.

Nova was what I've used myself and have had no issues, just saw the other stuff on the list and figured it was all basically the same.

1968-72 Nova do fit.
However, you are after a 2" primary and that may or may not fit well.
My headers came from a BBC Nova owner and they are 1-3/4 primary's that fit with no issues.
Even with my SM465 transmission and its Z-Bar linkage.

These were dented by the PO of them.

Imho, primary tube size shouldn't matter. They still fit in a Nova, so they should fit in a truck too.

Mabey a bit tighter getting to the plugs but otherwise are made to fit the same space.
