If its already had a helicoil installed its oversize an cant be rethreaded to the stock size anyway. Probably why no one wants to touch it.

In this day an age with the modern consumer, you take on a problem you didn't create, you now own it regardless. That makes alot of people/business weary of stuff like that imo...

I believe timeserts are available in larger diameters for cases such as this?

Yep time sert big sert will fix it. Probably remove the helicoil maybe tap deeper install a regular time sert and judge depth maybe have to go studs and one deep stud. We also used to make inserts commonly on crap people have already buggered up.If it's too buggered for a time sert or a big sert. Pic a bolt big enough to fill the hole, tap the hole. Drill a pilot hole dead center of the bolt, then a bigger pilot hole. If you don't have access to a lathe,I know how to do it with a drill press, just ask. Lock tight your bolt and screw it in snug plus a little. Let your lock tight dry. Now you can hold the head of the bolt to drill and tap the bolt. Use a bigger bit to drill the head off and leave a chamfer.. Beauty of this method, you can go as big and as deep as you want. I'd stud it when I was done.

And we are down to literally 2 legit machine shops in our area. And one of the two is years behind on customer builds. They are't going to waste time on a high labor low profit repair like this.

I'd look at these inserts compare them to the helicoil. These are 1 inch deep and I believe the same thread as a standard helicoil. See what the threads look like, see how deep they are. If a shade over 1 inch and 3/4 good threads I think I'd use these inserts and make an instalation tool. If I question a fastener will hold torque on assembly I over torque it in advance, before assembly,if I can over torque it,I know I can pull factory torque. Thing about helicoils you can pull just a couple of coils. Timeserts are 1 piece.
