I've read where others have said this, but the TBs on our DDs are always remarkably clean when they go in for service, so I don't really buy it.
The appearance of your throttle body is not a good indicator of how much dirt is getting sucked through it. Hell, the intake for our Dyson vacuum is clean too, despite having pounds of dirt go through it.
It's your truck, run what you want. If you can take the time to actually read the test I linked above and still think K&N is the best filter, then go for it. It's just another reason I don't like buying used vehicles.
