Fresh oil being thicker than old broken-down oil makes more pressure which in turn makes a leak more prominent. Find and fix oil leak and go from there. Make sure PCV valve is good as well, a bad valve or no valve can make crankcase pressure higher also causing leaks to get worse. I've seen fresh built engines with only breathers blow out manifold end gaskets, rear seals, timing cover seals, even pan gaskets the first time they were spun up beyond an idle.
My 388 makes 55-60 psi with 30wt when cold and 40-45 when hot.
