Maybe this is a Canadian thing but we call that a TOPPER, not a camper lol.

Topper, Cap, Shell, Camper, Camper Shell, all the same. I grew up calling them campers whether they were the big overhead ones or just a shell/topper.

I live 2 hours from Ontario, in Wisconsin. We call them toppers. I can see why it would be called something different elsewhere, I've seen how you people say Wisconsin. Dont hide it, you say it weird.

Also,

Its pop. Not soda.

I've always heard all of those names.

Just a dumb curiosity question here... Why does it matter if it's "rare" or not?

^^^ This
I was just wondering if they were since in my area there’s not many squarebodies left I was wondering other areas about how many of these old truck campers are left

I always thought they were called a "cap". What's that next to the van in the first pic?

The black car is a 1940s Plymouth deluxe if my memory serves right and the left is a 40s Chevy long wheel base dually tow truck 6 cylinder the Plymouth has a Hemi

I always heard them called a shell or bed shell in Cali. A camper is a slide in self contained RV type with an overhead over the cab.

I bought this truck for $150 and it came with one. Sadly I put it on another and had the truck on the roll back backwards. Wind caught the door, filled the shell with air and ripped it off the truck and it took flight like a flying carpet at 80mph and was destroyed.
