Why are the outer main bolts not installed?
Good eye! I didn't even notice that.

Why are the outer main bolts not installed?

Good catch, wonder what's up with that? Why are the outer main bolts not installed?
If the machine shop left those out then definately get your money and walk away, no excuse for that. Although, it might be fun to hear them try and explain it... Sorry man, that sucks...Why are the outer main bolts not installed?
interested in the missing main cap bolts.Yep I was trying to stay out of this, but I'm wondering if those aren't 4 bolt caps on a factory 2 bolt block that's been line honed,in which case it could kind of make sense. Was the block align honed? This is a very important question..

Looks like there is a seller on eBay.
The labor cost would go way down if you bought a rebuilt motor rather than having your motor rebuilt, machine work etc.

Forged internals would have done nothing to prevent this. You don't need new pistons,454 Vette rods are Forged, and 99 percent of people will never have an issue with a cast crank. And Forged cranks break also. Also forged pistons have to run with looser clearances in the bore,so more piston slap problems and oil consumption problems. Just putting information here for anyone who might be reading. On a mild build using cool race engine pieces sounds good, but weigh the downsides as well. It’s a 2 bolt main.
The shop refunded me all money. I moved it to a more reputable (slower and more $$) shop. You get what you pay for with machine work.
Looks like it’s time to go forged internals.
