I think a rod spun a bearing in my rebuilt 454

Nope, but there is such thing as to small of a tire. A locker helps too. That's all.

Ended up going with a very reputable rebuilder and went 489 with all quality stuff instead of blueprint. He told me he rebuilds a ton of blueprint motors because they use junk internally.

Round 2 here we go!

I like that 489 cu in. IIRC, without looking it up and my memory might be failing me since age sucks, but IIRC, that's a square bore/stroke combo isn't it? Or very close to it, like off by .030 if it's not. I know it performs very well with the right camshaft.
