This is my first ever engine rebuild. I picked up a 1979 K20 with a 350 4 bolt main. I pulled it out and stripped it to the block. My father in law gave me everything for a 383 stroker he was going to build but never got around to it. I’m only missing an intake manifold and carb. Any suggestions on carb CFM for this build? I’d like it to be a street / mild performance motor. Something I can drive around but also has some nuts on it should I choose to get on it a little bit.

Single plane or dual plane manifold.

If its your first build, I would take your time and go slow. Watch LOTS of YouTube videos and ask plenty of questions. One little mistake, and you may have to tear it down and start over again.

Put tape on the positive battery terminal that says "ADD OIL / COOLANT". Turn it over by hand before cranking it over. Use rebuild lube and break-in oil (not synthetic), bring up the oil pressure before connecting the distributor wires, and so on.

Its not hard to build a motor, but it needs to be done correctly if you want a good reliable long lasting motor.

engine masters tested edlebrock rpm am sure you could find the video. That's what I would consider provided it will fit the heads.

Remember this, HP is top end insurance bottom end.

Most HP increase will be in the heads.

You will get pages of recommendations on this. Weed through it.

Specifics on the stroker kit would help.

I misread your post originally. What heads, what cam,and what approximate compression are you running. We can figure the approximate compression if we know if you are running flat top or dished pistons and what heads. All the pieces need to match, low compression big cam, single plane with a big carb is going to run terrible. Flat tops,58cc chambers and too little cam, another one that's not going to be good. Give us more info as to what all you have.

Depends on what you plan on doing with it that will dictate were in the rpm range you want it to make its power. Is it still to be used as a truck? Will it be a daily or a nice weather only ride?

Not a lot of people would want to deal with a truck like mine for example. A lot more info is needed.

Your choice of the cam shaft decides the rest of the build.
