Point made, with a bit of irony tossed in:Yea I have swapped seats, Lexus Rx 350 in the '81 and Lexus rx330 in the '72 . Not afraid to upgrade my ride as I drive them daily. Not sure what your point is. Also leather Silverado steering wheels in both.
You [me and others] didn't need to do everything we did to our rigs, or need the expensive extras on that truck or home, but we do them because we want to.
In the case of seats, for example, it made the ride a more comfortable.
My 6 forward gear (over drive operation in each of the three speeds) in front of the 4:13 rear end pushed by a 250 made the truck more comfortable (dropped exhaust noise). It reduced wear and tear on the engine. It dropped around 1,000 RPM, so running at 70 no longer pushed 3,000 RPM in that 6.
I could pull loads, including with the truck full with ease, and when empty, get around 22 MPG or more without trying. That, for me and others, beats the hell out of the 7-10 my 350 gets currently.
In short, far too many variables to justify mocking efforts to better mileage. For all of us, the good news is, ignorance can be corrected.
And, regarding your statement "My POV should not be confused with your POV," it rather sounds like what you were doing.
