how to set kickdown cable on th350?

I read that you pulled the tab, then opened the throttle all the way up and then close the tab. Did not work and I still have like 1.5" extra cable left on the end before the linkage catches it. Could it not be hooked up down on the trans?

Undid it from the trans. It was hooked up. Hooked it back up. Had the wife push the gas all the way while I pushed the tab in again. Still doesn't work. I feel like the cable is too long. It has like 1.5" left after the little black hook that attaches to the carb linkage

I'm thinking you either have the wrong cable, or the wrong cable bracket. Do you have a crimp on fishing weight? One of those small round type? Put that on to where at about 1/8 - 1/4 throttle it's starts to pull on the cable.

I did like you said and yeah it does work now. Seems like it only works at Lower speeds....I guess that's natural you dont want it kicking down Into second at 70 mph

Sounds like you probably have it set pretty damn good. Yes, it's pretty much for low throttle. Past that, the governor and vac modulator should do the rest. If you want, experiment with it. You can always move the weight back a **** hair and see what happens. You actually can tune a Th350 with that cable to how you like the shift points.

There is a seemingly little-known, additional adjustment found at the vacuum modulator.
You MAY have this and not know it!
A small, pocket-sized flat head will be necessary.

Remove the vacuum line from transmission and MAYBE you will be able to see a screwdriver slot inside the nipple. In for lower, out for higher?
