Hey all. I am wanting to get some parts on the way home and NOT go anywhere tomorrow while I work on this motor.

Everywhere I see online says there are 4 freeze plugs total; 2 on each side.

HOWEVER I know for a fact there are 2 on the front of the motor to either side of the water pump.

Anyone know the real answer and what size they are supposed to be? I believe this is a mid-80s SBC.

Looks like 8, and a total of 12, according to this link:

For a 350, two on each side, two on the front, two in the rear. Then there are galley plugs for the oil passages that feed the lifter bores.

Get brass ones. You should be able to get a kit of them, with all of them.

Not relevant here, but a 400sbc has three on each side.

Will add most 2 bolt mains were 2 soft plugs per side, 4 bolt mains were 3. Back in my racing days we cheated rules by using a 2 bolt block [with aftermarket splayed caps] claiming it was a 350 which it wasn't. Was a 400 block with 350 crank.
