My key switch is falling apart. Latest was the chrome helper ringer fell off. I've got a new one I bought long ago, but can't seem to get passed the lock washer / ring that's behind the steering wheel. What's the trick?

Thanks

You need an inexpensive lock plate spring compressor.

You must be registered for see images

My truck doesn't have the lock plate. Will that tool still work?

PO installed aftermarket steering wheel and didn't reinstall lock plate.

I looked again and the plate is there. Bought the tool and got the tumbler swapped. The tire bolt hole is stripped out and found the turn signal mechanism is cracked where that arm screws in. Also, the steering lock is broke. The rod does not extend completely.

I guess the PO had the lock plate installed wrong. Steering wheel is now proper.

Thanks!
