I put mine on my toolbox and have never had any problems. Have done it this way on all of my trucks.

Ya that's what I'm leaning towards

Wilson 1000 or 5000 mag mounts are supreme antennas....blows K40 and everything below out of the water.

Firestik is HQ'd here in Phoenix. Stopped by the shop yesterday. Nice guy, talked my ear off, but gave some valuable info and saved a few $$ by hanging out and listening to some good stories. I went with the "Fire Ring" wire due to the tight mounting location:

As you see, the wire-to-CB end is open, allowing a smaller hole to be drilled in your truck....if needed. Kit comes with the appropiate grommet to use too.

Came into the truck via a hole from the OE tire mount. Secured the wire to the frame, drooping the wire to allow for condensation to run off and filled the hole with scillicon. Loosely ran the wire along the floor to my console. My carpet mat is still in good shape and will help insulate the wire.

A 90* connector emilinates any clearance issues and allows the CB to be tucked in the
console:

Just used some good quality tape to secure the wire here:

That cable looks like something I have been looking for. What does cost if you don't mind me asking?

Single or dual antenna?

Single. No need for duals on our trucks.

Part Im using is the 18' cable and stud combo: Model: K4-8R18

Ahhhhh man. I thought I was gonna see some pics of a Cobra installed in an overhead. I'd kind of like to do it. I know it's been done in conversion vans, but I've considered trying to do something in one of my squares where I can mount a Cobra in the center, maybe 2 stereo speakers and a couple of cubby holes, mainly to safely hold and carry my Glock with me. Sometimes on long trips, it's gets a bit uncomfy with the Glock on the hip while driving and I hate just laying it on the seat. Didn't mind much in my newer trucks, it fit in the door panel pocket.
