Satisfactory?
I only took 1 or 2 photos yesterday.
That was just me taking a pic of the rotor pointing at #1 after I removed the dizzy cap.

And NO I don't have the ignition wire just open and exposed like that Damnit.

I had it disconnected so it wouldn't do something ****** up like take off while I was rolling the motor over manually.

Nothing is finalized like I want it yet, it's just kinda "there" to get it running.

Man, after reading this I'm sooo loving that I've got a carb on my truck. I'd never get that POS running. Good luck I hope it starts for you this afternoon.

Oh, I noticed you got some loose plug wires there. Hope that helps. Lol

The truth is, actually I've been tying a rope around the flywheel and pull starting the truck.

I always get nervous about my swap when I read threads like this. I had originally intended to keep mine mostly stock, but now it has kind of snowballed to a bit more than that. I am swapping in a mostly stock MPFI 454 from a 1997 K2500 suburban. Then I decided to do the 0411 LS1 computer swap on it so I could have more tuning ability. Then I realized the stock injectors and regulator were junk, so upgraded to Bosch Gen3 injectors and corvette filter/regulator. Then I realized that I would need new cap/rotor/plug wires anyways and they are expensive for the vortec 454... and my buddy pulled his original COP setup from his 8.1L... sooo COP conversion for the vortec also. I'm guessing when i finally get around to firing it up, I'm going to be pulling my hair out trying to see where i messed up too.

Best of luck to you buddy... Lol

I'm hoping my findings this evening will be better than the last 2 days.

I know... I started reading this thread and started with "man, i'm glad i'm sticking with stock"... then it became "well, mostly stock"... then it was "$h*t, this is going to be me in the next month or so"

I hope you get it figured out. Part of my planning is using a dual battery setup with the starter and alternator feed on one battery and having the EFI and accessories running off the second battery with the two batteries only connected after startup through a relay. That way the starter battery drain won't affect the EFI running.

I was seriously considering that actually.
I wanna run dual batteries anyway because I'm gonna be feeding accessories on the k5 anyways, like a 12k winch, a air compressor for the tractor trailer horns, etc.

Might not be a bad idea.

I'm gonna "for now" close this thread in saying I'm not 100% that holley efi is to blame...

It's "looking like" part of it is dropping cranking voltage affecting the battery, and the other part is old cracked plug wires....

We shall see. I'll post updates in a couple hours.

Amazing. Get home, hook the efi up directly to the battery, bump the starter, this bad bitch started to run... Then..... Shut off. Lol

I've got the Edelbrock Pro Flo 4, so am watching this thread to avoid any issues when that time comes....and not jinx myself.

That wiring pic reminds me of this guy - I bet he could get it started.

It's a bit of disaster right now.

Go checkout my k5 thread... There's alot to be desired, and alot of extra wires from the original throttle body system I'm not even using.

I doubt he could get it started, looks like a guy from the cable company that just adds his line. Forget removing all the coax been installed over the years
