I gotta get a distributor for the 85, I cant find any deals on craigs list so I am looking into a brand new unit I could just drop in.

First unit is this "summit racing" brand for 89 bucks. Looks like a good unit, not a bad price either.

Second is this MSD unit for 130 something, I am really leading toward this one. This distributor comes with a MSD coil in it, hotter spark=better burn and better mileage. What do you guys think?

To this thread.... I am loving this!!

Iman...if it was me I'd just stick to the summit racing one. I think you may be paying for the MSD name with the 130 one. Just my 2 cents...

Save your money and just get the Summit one. Its going into a stock wee O five that will never ever utilize the extra spark voltage. Unless of course you intend to have a motor worthy of the MSD dizzy someday and will pull it from this motor. For real, you will not get any advantage whatsoever from a hotter coil.

Not so much, clearly the MSD is a better unit, but even a stock HEI system is good for 7000 rpm which his 305 will never see in its lifetime. My SIL has the Summit Dizzy and its working just fine up to 5800 rpm.

That is what I was thinking too. I wonder who makes the summit dizzy? Most likely it's another name brand with Summit's brand slapped on it. In either event, the Summit brand is the way to go in this instance.

Yep, I agree. I could be Mallory or Accel even. I just know its a new dizzy and not a refurb but works well and worthe $89. I'm pretty sure it comes with the ignition module, dizzy cap and rotor too, along with the coil. Can't beat that deal. Buying those parts seperatly at Auto Zone, you'd pay more than than for inferior products.

Irish.....I have a brand new TSP with cap, rotor and 65,000 coil. I'm never going to use it. I bought it for my BBC, and got ahead of my self, the intake I'm going to run, a big head distributor won't fit. So if you want it LMK $50.00 + shipping and it's yours.

If he don't want it Clean, I'll take it. I am short a dizzy for this 350 I am building for the 85K10. I had planned on a junk yard dizzy, or using the one out of the wee 0 five I have here, buts ESC controlled and I can't use it.

As for the dist. great deal $50 and it's got a cool looking clear cap, but can't run it with your intake? do I smell a dual four setup or blower?
