So I have an 88 K5 it's got the column mounted dimmer switch. I wanted to know if anyone knows or has tried to see if the floor mount from the earlier models would fit the connector. They appear to have the same connector so maybe but I don't know. Does anybody else know?

Wiring for floor switch is on floor. Wiring for column switch is in column.

Don't see how unless you do some creative wiring.

It's an easy swap. Unplug the dimmer pigtail from the column switch and remove that part of the harness from the column harness. With a little rerouting, the pigtail will reach to the floor. Then just cut off the unused "appendix" part of the connector and plug it into the new floor dimmer switch. Then screw the switch to the floor, there's two dimples in the floor stamping that help you locate it.

was wondering if there was going to be something sneaky about how easy this could be lol. Learn something new everyday.

A few years ago I switched my '84 to a floor dimmer, that's how I found out it was so easy. I did a quick little write-up on it, but I'm not sure where it went to.
