Has anyone ever built a 377 Small Block?

That's the exact point of this conversation. Have a complete 350 with good internals and a bad block. Have access to a 400 block so I'm just running the idea through my mind. Negligible difference in prepping that one vs another 350 block.

Seems like you already have a good plan...

Price pistons and bearing spacers . When pricing pistons verify you are getting pistons for the rods you intend going to use.

there were lots of road race cars from the late 70s-80s that ran 377s and they're nasty, high winding things. Lots of power when done right.
Just wanted to second this. They are really fun screamers. IIRC, a good lightweight set of pistons dialed up the fun factor. Nova, Camaro, even a Chevelle would love it. For a big truck … well it's still fun to spin a V8, right!?

Going to start stripping this 350 down this evening and drop the heads off at the machine shop this week to see if they are salvageable.

Will update once I decide exactly what direction I end up going with this.

Heads off and ready for the machine shop. This was the engine that was in my Camaro when I bought it last spring.

If you build a 377 those heads will need steam holes,might have the machine shop drill them now. BTW I think your 350 block is salvageable. Which saves you lots of money,no bore,no new pistons,no bearing spacers. My .02

Drilling the steam holes will be easy peasy in the aluminum. I did it once in factory cast iron heads. Two holes were easy, the other 4 were work hardened and required a bit that a machinist friend gave me.

Or maybe it was the other way around... 4 holes were easy and 2 were hard. I dunno, it was nearly 20 years ago.

Yeah I wouldn't be concerned for myself,but lots of people prefer others do things. I never got it. I make mounts,brackets, build my own engines,etc,etc.where as lots of people buy everything.
