Hi,
I'm going to swap the engine to a bit punchier sbc with a GM Performance LT4 Hotcam (219/228deg, .525/.525 lift https://www.gmperformancemotor.com/parts/24502586.html ) and also the I might need to adjust/replace the gear for it has a rather loud engine braking noise so gearing change is an option too.
The truck is driven mostly in town and smaller roads, hardly ever faster than 55mph. Checking with a gearing calculator I ended up with two gear options: with my 31" tires and overdrive trans, a 4.11 gearing is 1700rpm at 55mph and a 3.73 would be 1550rpm at 55mph. I was wondering would I really benefit at all from a taller gearing considering the LT4 hot cam may like some revs to run smoothly? In other words, what kind of cruising revs should be the goal with the LT4 Hotcam?

That's the cam in my Tahoe. NV4500 with 4.88 gears with 35" tires is perfect. It doesn't like it really under 2000 RPM but it is a little on the heavy side. 4.11 or 4.30 would be my pick.
