Going to pull the offending side head off it today with my nephew to see what’s going on, I half expect piston to valve contact what with all that tapping it was doing on the way home. And I’m not really sure what was causing the 1400 RPM idle. Almost like it jumped timing. Btw it’s not rotating assembly knocking it’s definitely valve train. Remember I took the offending pushrods out of number 8 on the drive home so cam on stuck lifter, or piston on valve? SomethingI still like the little 283, lol. What are you going to do with it?
The smoking gun might be that I FAILED to use thread sealant on the head bolts. I knew better, I don’t know why I forgot. But both sides are leaking coolant below the 5/7 - 6/8 cylinders. From head gaskets areas. Could coolant in the cylinder cause hydro lock and or bend valves? Either way, I screwed up.
Ultimately I thought about fitting the trans to it, cleaning it all up and making it a rolling coffee table with glass on the top but I really don’t have a place for that lmao
