There's a spring under the assembly inside the door that provides tension. Snug up the nut and the spring will apply more pressure inside the door. I think the nut is 7/16 or 1/2. Unscrew the door panel to access it. Remove the handles first, of course...lol...
Correction, there WAS a half inch nut with a spring. I put WD-40 on it, and a wrench. It gave a little bit, so I backed it off the other way and rocked it back-and-forth. Felt like she was loose so I gave her a little more and snap! Spring and broken bolt fall to the bottom of the door.

I just put the damn cover and handles back on and said to hell with it. One day I’ll replace that whole set up.

Been having a stuck back brake drum for a while Now, A week or two ago I took the drum off and everything was fine. Today it took about 30 minutes to get the drum off, and I started trying to adjust it down, then I looked up and saw that the wheel cylinder things are stuck out really far. What would cause this? The wheel cylinder is new as is the axle seal, it was leaking when I got the truck so I replaced them. I don’t seem to be missing any springs or gadgets, I did take the spring to the right off to see if I could finagle it back into place.

I think I’m going to order a new wheel cylinder, which sucks because it took five tries to find the right one last time, maybe I’ll have that part number in my O’Reilly’s account. Honestly looks like it needs new pads and even a drum as well. Maybe I can find a spring kit.

Looks like you are missing some hardware for the rear shoe.

By "rear shoe", are you meaning the shoe on the right? If so, that appears to be the front shoe. And it does appear to be missing the hold-down hardware

Yeah, the rear facing one.

How can you tell they are on backwards in that picture? The picture is too close up to see really any of the lining?

I was going by the shocks(right) and open view (left). Shocks are in front of the axle

Well I feel like an idiot. For some reason, I thought that was the driver side, because I thought he said driver side. I don't know where the hell my mind got that from. I think I'm losing my marbles.

Short shoes go forward, seen them put on wrong a bunch, just because thats how someone did it before. Heck I wasn't paying attention one time an put both long shoes on one side an didn't catch it till I was finishing up the other with both the short ones :doh2:

Another thing alot of people don't do is clean off the 6 flat surfaces the shoes ride on an remove any burrs. Add a touch of brake caliper grease there, on the pin an on the nails at both ends (shoe an wheel cylinder).

What does that mean? Like, what does that convey?

Thanks
