I'm curious, is the cruise control tied into the speedometer in some fashion? The reason I ask is when I first bought the truck, the speedometer functioned smoothly until winter hit and now it bounces around. Up until it started bouncing, I could engage the cruise and it would maintain speed. Now, if I were to engage the cruise, the throttle is erratic.

Is there a relationship between the two? Thx.

Yes, the vehicle speed sensor takes a reading from the back side of the speedometer. It's a little greenish box with a wire. If the speedo is bouncing around it will think that the vehicle speed is changing and try to compensate.

A new speedometer cable should fix that issue.

I had a feeling the 2 were tied together some how. It's not like I NEED the cruise anyways. Truck mainly gets driven around town. I'll look at replacing the speedo cable when the temps are more tolerable.

Thanks for the feedback!

Or pull the inner cable out at the transmission end and lube it up and re install just to get by and for a quick fix.
