I think if you like the sound of no mufflers, you will like glasspacks the best. I love the sound myself. I also like the sound of most flowmasters, the quieter versions on mild engines and the louder versions on healthy engines. I also like the Hooker Aerochambers on my C10, they have a sound all their own.

I'm not real sure about Magnaflows, I think they occasionally have a kind of "farty" sound.

See, and I have yet to hear one that sounds bad, even on my old Honda 4-cylinder. You know what they say about opinions though... :bowroflwerd6:

You're right, asking about favorite mufflers is just like asking about favorite carbs. I think the worst sounding one was actually in Magnaflow's own commercial, lol. The one a few years ago with Boyd Coddington in it.

OP, I didn't see it in the description, what size are the primaries? Will you measure them when you get them? Thanks! That is a good price for ceramic coated headers, kinda makes me wonder about the quality. Will take some good pics of them and post them for us? I am interested if they coated inside too. I might pick some up too.

About the muffler debate, any muffler sounds better than straight pipes to me. Look into Thrush Welded mufflers. Same style as Flowmaster, but way cheaper. Guy I work with put them behind a SBC with headers, they sounded VERY nice! Thinking about them for my truck when I redo the exhaust.

If I didn't have to run cats I would have duals on mine. And headers. This rusty falling apart cracked manifold and donut connection and Y-pipe is pissing me off.

89Suburban they make cats for headers that will pass in most states.

Guess I am the odd ball on this subject, but I prefer the Pypes Street Pro mufflers.

I've never heard them yet. Are they deep and mellow, or higher/raspy?

Pretty sure those are what Guardian was talking about. Think they are towards the flowmaster end of the spectrum soundwise. Never heard them in person however. A lot of guys like them over at mcss.com

.

Jep !!! You can even get headers that have the taps for the AIR tubes.

Do they do sniffer tests in PA or just visual???

Both. But I don't have air tubes. :)

Cool, so is it just that headers are illegal, or that you need provisions for the O2 sensor? You can get headers with O2 sensor too, or just drill a hole and have someone weld in a nut with the proper threads. Then Y into a Cat and back out, or even go true duals and run smaller mono cats, 1 on each pipe with a balance tube and should sniff legal just fine so long as it passes visual.

You can also buy header reducers with an O2 fitting already welded in.
