Dimmer switch rod and other issues

87 k5 blazer, tilt column, my dimmer switch rod is not making contact with the lever, someone has obviously messed with this column, i am not sure if maybe something is missing?

Also I found a random spring not sure what that is for.

Column is not locking, maybe someone has a diagram?

Lastly the splined shaft in the center that the steering wheel attatches to seems to be loose, has a lot of side to side play, is this normal or no?

If the upper column wobbles there are bolts in the bottom that are loose. Unfortunately requires almost complete disassembly to gain access. There is also a pot metal gear that commonly breaks. Is on the opposite side of the picture.

Thanks fast99. Do you know about this dimmer rod? I dont see whats supposed to push on it

It's hard to explain but you should be able to reach over top of column a little below the mounting bracket and feel where it enters the switch. Someone should be along with and exploded diagram.

The switch is at the other end, the components that make that rod move, are all in the piece you took off the column. There's a little little black piece that actuates that rod.

I know where the switch is. Asking about the end of the rod in my pic. I think i have it figured out. Its missing the plastic actuator piece
