Good afternoon!

Im hooking up my carb and trying to adjust the detent cable. How do I adjust the length on this style?? It seems even when I manually hold the cable in place and open the throttle wide open the orange part prevents WOT

350 sbc with edelbrock intake and edelbrock carb. Detent cable and throttle cable are original and were hooked to a Quadrajet. Do I need a new bracket?

Pry up on the clip here. That will unlock the adjustment slider. As long as WOT and the kickdown cable travel maxes out at the same time, you should be good. If not, you will have to get creative with brackets until they do.

Hey y'all,

I'm having a similar issue with my detent cable. My original cable was leaking transmission fluid so I decided to replace it. Now that it's installed, I can't set it correctly at W.O.T. I set the adjustable bracket as far back as possible, as well as the cable itself, and no luck. Do y'all know of anything that could help me correct the issue? Thanks for your time!

Assume it’s a TH350. If it’s a TH400 or 700R4 overdrive, this does not apply.

If you look at the picture in Post #2, in the center of the black piece you will see the center section of it that pops up.
-Use a small flat tip screwdrive on each side, and gently pop that center section of the fitting up. It will stick up about 1/4” above the rest of the black fitting.
- now manually pull the carb linkage to full throttle and hold it there. While holding it, use your finger to push the black center piece back down. This sets your kick-down position for a TH350.

I hope the cable pictured is the old one you replaced because that one is definitely no good at the metal collar on the trans end.

I hope that's the old one because the jacket pulled out of the crimp.
