Whats a 79 3/4 ton 2wd with a low noise rod knock 454 engine that needs rebuilt and good th400 worth. The cab has rusted out floor pans. Going to look at it tomorrow possibly. The guy said its worth $400 in scrap. He asked me to come look at it and see whats it worth to me.

Here's what he told me about it in a email.

79 3/4 ton, Cancer has taken the cab and bed. But it has a lot of good parts. 2 wheel drive. Dual exhaust front to rear. 2 tanks. power windows and locks ac truck. Engine has valve tapping and a small noise in the bottom of the engine. 400 turbo trans. 4 good tires. very good engine for a rebuild. Shoot the scrap weight of the truck would be close to $400

Here's his CL ad

sounds like a 200 hundred dollar truck to me, part it out and scrap the rest,if he really thought he could get 400 at scrap would already been there

I was thinking more of restoring it instead of scrapping it.

At best I would hold onto it for parts on a different square. Restoring one that's that far gone is too much work.

I'm gonna go look at it and get pics of it so you guys can see what it looks like. I'd probably probably restore it anyway with patch panels since its 3/4 ton.

He would have no trouble at all getting $400 for scrap, I'll say he hasn't done it because he wants 1K out of it:wave:

Value really depends on how rusty it actually is. I'm going to say it's probably a $600 truck.

Or he doesn't have a way to get it there. I think car bodies are down right now, about $150 a ton, so I'd say more like worth $300 maybe $325 in scrap. And how much time, effort and gas is going to spend scrapping it? Its going to have a 14b Full Float in it too. That's $150, $100 for the Th400 and a 454 core is worth something too. See if he bites at $300 for a parts truck. What about the title? If you can't get it for $300, I'd probably pass on it. Sounds like a $200 truck to me too, but since car bodies gone up so high, I've not seen a single truck in my price range of $50-$200 any more.

WOW this is the first time I have seen this thread. Been almost 6 months since you started it. You ****** up big time NOT buying the shortbed, Even if you couldnt drive a stick you can always learn to, hell you had someone willing to teach you in his car. I learned how to drive when I was 8 years old wanna take a guess at what I learned how to drive in? It was an old 66 C60 2ton grain truck, it had a 327 in it with a 5 spd, and NO BRAKES. I learned at a very young age farming I am thankful for that, obviously alot of us take certain things for granted.

In all honesty Dave, on all the forums that you are a member of I have watched all the threads about your C2500 for ALONG time, you still ahvent gotten the motor changed, IMO I would NOT buy a damn thing that you have to work on, no offense but I am seriously wondering if you even know how to swap a motor. And NO I am NOT picking on you, theres alot of people that cant do it, but at the same time they dont buy vehichles that they either cant work on or have someone work on them. You dont need a project you need 1 thats ready to go.

BTW I sure hope you took that guys offer for learning you how to drive a stick.
