I am finally tiried of not having any place to set any drinks in the square, so i decided its time to change that. I had another thread relating to this which thanks 2 89S was able to put my basic ideas on paper so I could actually see it. I thought about it and thought about it and the only material i could think of to make it as light weight as possable was to build it out of Fiberglass.

This is my first attempt to make anything with fiberglass so i hope it works.

First lesson i have learned is to NOT do it in the house. Holy **** I swear I am higher then bat *****.

This is where the inspiration has come from. Thanks again 89S
Will post more pictures as i progress.

Heres a few pictures of the start of it. I am basically planning on building this in 3 or 4 pieces then ataching them all togather. Like I said first time i have ever done this so hope it works.

First step was to remove the dash, I want to build this so it contours the dash pad perfectly. The only way I could think of to get good results was to actually use the dash as a mold. I do NOT know if it will work or not, but I just masked the dash off where i would be spreading the fiberglass.

Next I went ahead and mixed up 4 ounzes of fiberglass resin, using a paint brush i smeared it all over the masking tape in the area where the console will be, then i layed 1 piece of fiberglass mat on it and worked it in with my hands, then repeated so there is actually 2 layers of mat.
Here you can see the resin and mat all layed in waiting for it to dry.
