How hard would it be to swap out the 14 bolt ff in a crew cab for a Dana 80 out of a 97 dodge?

I'd say it would be easier just to do a Dana 70 our a Dually Pick Up. Get the spring hangers from the Dana 70 truck too and then all should be bolt in to a SRW 1 ton.

I already have the 80 out of the 97 tho. How much of a difference is it? And the Dana 70 is pretty much same strength as a 14 ff?

im pretty sure you will need to weld new perches on, plus shock mounts shouldn't be that hard

Dana 70 is stronger than 14 bolt FF. All Dana 80's I have ever seen have been dually axles so you would need to measure the width to make sure it will work.

You might want to consider an AAM 11.25 out of a newer model GM it already has rear disc brakes. Just a thought.

I prefer the 14 bolt FF rearend myself.

Well I'm wanting to put the Dana 60 out if dodge in the front and wanted to use the Dana 80 rear so I didn't have to change the gearing and it already has limited slip I believe. It's not in a dually. I believe all the 2nd gen cummins that came with a manual trans had a Dana 80. If I did do the swap how much would the 14 ff be worth if I was to sell it? Or what the dana 80 worth if I didn't swap?

Also would I just buy new perches or could I reuse them? Build them?

Dodge has the drivers side drop right? I looked up a rear end for a 94 dodge and they came with a Dana 60, 70, 80 or one with a 12 bolt cover. It would be nice if you could use that factory dodge suspension in the front, its about like a 4 link set up.

The 14 FF should get around $400 and the Dana 80 $600, those are salvage yard based prices too.

Yes it is a driver side drop. I'm about 95% sure it's a Dana 80. The tag under the hood says so. I have be emailing a guy I found on YouTube that's done the dodge front axle set up and trying to get some info from him.

I'll get a picture of the tag up on here later

That guys truck is beyond NICE

Are you going to try and use leaf springs in the front or the 4 link type setup on a dodge?

Good luck on your build and keep us posted

Nah is okay no one was hurt. But i am really exited to get started on my cummins conversion. I think i have the best donor truck you could really get as far as ease of conversion. i believe the hardest part is going to be the 4x4 conversion and finding the time to do all the work. O yeah and rounding up the money haha!! Thanks alot for your help and your info! hopefully I have the time to do a build tread also that would be sweet
