Carburetor linkage bracket for Q-jet 700R4

does your edelbrock have the TV cable geometry kit thing? the last item youd need for an edelbrock

Well when I got the truck it had some hoky aftermarket thing. I could never find a kit that would really put it where it should be so I ended up taking one of them and modifying it. So I guess the short version is yes it does.

@HotRodPC AFAIK the aftermarket ones bolt to the back two carb studs. The factory ones bolted to the intake manifold like the pictures @idahovette uploaded. I think the aftermarket TH350s and 700R4 brackets are the same but factory may have been different. Who really pays that close of attention day to day to really notice small bracket differences until it matters.

This is my original setup - not using any of it (carb is already gone). If you come up empty handed, I'll go sort through the totes of stuff to see if its there. If so, pay the postman and its yours.

Thanks for that visual. So based on that it is more important to have the correct throttle lever than the correct bracket, so long as the bracket holds the cable horizontal. I already knew that, but seeing that as a visual refresher is appreciated.

@C10MixMaster I just double checked the carb I have set to go on and it does have the 700R4 lever on it, so should be good to go there.

the only other thing is length of the cable, so it will adjust. I believe there are 7-8 different cables available. mine was from an 88 gmt400

@C10MixMaster Yes, that is one of the reasons a correct bracket would make it easier. Right now with my current cable I would need the manifold bracket like the one Perry posted pictures of. If I went to a carb mounted bracket I'd need to run a different cable for sure. If I end up with a carb mounted bracket I will get a 88 GMT-400 cable and see if that works for me. Thanks again.

I'm 99% certain I've seen OEM brackets that bolt to the carb studs too. Maybe it was Olds or Pontiacs since I worked on many of those too back in the day, but I know I've seen them. Even then if it would work on Olds or Pontiac, A Qjet is a Qjet and it'll work on Chevy too. I know now if I ever see another one to grab it and keep it.

This is a dualjet so im not sure about it applying directly, but it does appaear to slip in under the rear bolt there on the dualjet. This is a 1980 cutlass with a 260 olds.

the second one appears to use the intake bolts behind the dualjet, that is a 1979 cutlass with a 260 olds.

the third appears to use the intake. thats a 77 electra with a 350 buick.


Interesting, but your theory about the qjet mounting is not a bad one!!!

i can say from experience you gotta be careful the chrome parts store linkage pieces (spectra if I remember right) there cheesy and bend, I stuffed a socket under it to keep it from bending

Good point, and that's important especially for a 700r4. If the bend throws the geometry off on your TV cable in the wrong way, it can destroy your transmission. So yes, I'd prefer something sturdy or OEM for certain.
