Autometer Gauges, are the Sending units specific to the brand?

My 84 needs some wiring clean up, 84 c10 on a 4x4 chassis with a ton of loose wires and such. The factory water temp gauge doesn't work, the autometer temp gauge doesn't work, same with the oil pressure (factory and autometer). The gauges are kind of redundent. Would you guys remove the autometer gauges and just use the factory? If i use the autometer gauges will the factory sending units work? Havent had the truck long so im not sure if the factory gauges are all mechanical or electrical and am unsure if the autometers are mechanical or electrical yet.

So if the factory gauges are mechanical and the autometers are mechanical will the factory sending unit work for the autometer gauges?

Same question if the factory gauge is electrical and the autometer electrical? This second one Im kind of doubting due to voltage and OHM differences but thats why im asking lol :)
