37 years ago I had a SR put in a '78 T-Bird and at the time I had hair down to the middle of my back and one day after driving I reached up to close the SR and went to get out of the car and lo and behold, my hair had gotten sucked up and exiting the car was quite the humorous ordeal. Lesson learned on that day.

Had that happen 2 or 3 times in my Tahoe before it got totaled, forgot to close it when I got home and it rained over night. Only once in the Yukon before I got good at remembering. It was much nicer than the Tahoe so I cared more lol

Mom's Pacifica had a sunroof from the factory (VERY well optioned car) and we made that mistake of leaving it open once..... We were working at a grocery store in the summer, parked out by the edge of the lot. Popped it open some to let the heat get out; while we were in the store, it rained! Had to buy a few rolls of paper towels to attempt to get the headliner patted dry ish....had to air it out more once we were home under the carport.

The picture is just one of many possible different types and configurations.

You could put either a stand alone 9V water alarm in your rig, or one of the ones in the picture, with the receiver plugged in at home - so that you get text alerts if rain enters the cab.

No, texts would not work at the grocery store, but when parked at home - the texts would be sent/received.

I wanted a sunroof for a long time. Then I got one, and then many more. Now I don't give a rats ass if I have one or not, since they don't help resale value and they tend to leak into the cab after the drain tubes get plugged up with dirt.

I worked at dealers in the 80s. They used to put sunroofs in anything. It was a huge money maker. If they leaked or needed repair the only fix was to find one that would fit the hole or a bigger one. Parts were non-existent in the 80s.

The other big thing they sold was sim-con tops. Simulated Convertibles.
Me too, Mr. Sunroof would install them on the lot.

Sucks that some dummy hacked up a manual transmission tilt column... those are pretty rare IIRC.

Shoot, you’re right. I didn’t even think about that it’s a manual tilt column.

I would agree they are pretty rare/uncommon to see.

Mine came with both a tilt column, and the mm7/A833 transmission. Not something you see every day!

And a 6.2 on top of that. I'd consider that to be a pretty unique truck.

My truck had a siliconed shut popup sunroof when I bought it. There was only one company in the US that had replacement pop ups for sale and it was one inch too small for the hole in my roof. So.. I had the frame stripped and powder coated and had to make a new interior ring from scratch because the original was broken in 3 pieces. Wrapped the handle in leather and put a cool tint on the glass. Glued the exterior frame in place and had to use spacers for the double roof skin so it fit right and didn't pinch the roof together in the corners. Thankfully the rubber seal was in great shape (thanks to the silicone). Was a huge pain in the ass and don't want to mess with one again. But I do have a really cool sunroof now lol

There were oodles of aftermarket sunroof manufacturers in the 70's-90's.

You don't want to see the one installed in my K5... it's horrendous. The sunroof in my C10 looks basically like the one in your first post up there. But it's maybe slightly bigger and there's a latch at the center rear, instead of two separate latches. It pops up at two different heights, or removes completely.

Mine is similar. It’s tinted on 78

Shocked how much hate this is gettin.. hah. I actually like it.
I have some holes in my roof from previous owners antennas.. maybe instead of filling them, I make them bigger and get me one of these.
Me too. I love it. My dad actually cut out and installed one in his 76. Remember he would take it out and let me stand on the seat with my head/shoulders out.... but only on the dirt road ride from the school bus drop-off to the house. Good times!
