Hey guys got my LS set in my K5, I think I’d like to go with the AN fuel line kits found on ebay and the like. I will need a kit for fuel and also transmission lines.
This will be my first time working with AN fittings. Does anyone know what size line is appropriate for a mostly stock 5.3? Also any tips will be appreciated.

I have used AN fittings before. They are not my preferred setup because they are not the easiest thing to work with. They are not cheap, and you have to have all the correct parts or it won't work at all. Hoses and hose clamps are way more flexible when it comes to installation and modification. (no pun intended).

They are relatively easy to work with. Order some anodized vice jaws and the anodized wrenches. I used 6AN for all of my fuel and transmission lines in my LS swap.

A few other tips: Use a pick to strip back the stainless mesh, your fingers will thank you. Use assembly lube on the fitting where the hose slides on. Use antiseize on the threads. Take your time. I wrapped the PTFE tightly with electric tape and cut it with a band saw.

Different brand and a few extra pieces (which is great cuz I bought them all separate) but this is what I used for both transmission lines and fuel lines. Easy to work with and great looks

That looks pretty snazzy.

The best way to cut the tubes is with a dye grinder. Before you cut anything, make sure you make a good tight (and thin) wrap with Electrical tape to prevent the braiding from unraveling (which it will unravel a little but don’t get intimidated). 6AN is basically the same as 3/8” hose. Braided hoses are a lot harder to deal with, but I find they have a lot better longevity, and it looks like you actually give a s*#t about your project when it is done.

Be prepared to stop and start a few times as you start laying hose and have to buy new fittings to accommodate the angles you want. I was always able to find every fitting I ever needed on Amazon , even the unique fittings to fit the steering box and AN to the power steering pump. If you get the correct fittings, they are not hard at all to put together.

Plumbed 3 vehicles almost completely in steel and nylon braided AN lines, and plan to do at least 3 more. Done a few PTFE lined lines as well. NHRA rules require fuel systems to be hard line, steel braided or NHRA-accepted “woven or woven-pushlock.” They're all track legal cars, so that's why we've done it.

Evil Energy on Amazon sells great stuff for the price. Adjustable aluminum wrenches will prevent scratches on your fittings if you're inclined.

When putting the end on the hose itself (the part the fitting threads into), spin it counter clockwise. I use a socket on a 1/4" impact driver to spin them on in reverse.

Engine assembly lube aka cam lube, works great as AN fitting assembly lube.
